Getting lost
On your first week and second week, if you are late, then there is always other people around the school to help you find your way. They will be able to direct you, and if you turn up late it doesn't matter! Every teacher will understand. If you don't understand the work, and you feel like you don't belong - you do! When it was my first day, I had Maths in the afternoon, and I had no clue where the Maths block was. I tried to find it, but I couldn't. I kept looking all the way through the main building, but I still couldn't find it. Luckily, I had Maya with me, so we were lost together. When I finally made it to the Maths block (which is actually outside in a little square block) me and Maya had different teachers, and by complete accident we ended up in each other's classes! It was only when the teacher was going through the register, she didn't say my name, so I had to go up to her and ask why I wasn't on the register, she said I was in the wrong class. But she was so nice and kind to me, and she kindly took me to Miss Featherstone's class (which was where I was supposed to be.) So in shorter terms - it doesn't matter if you're late at first, always ask if you're unsure, and try and find your way around the school during your lunch break. |

Some of my top tips!
Hello I am Olivia and I am currently in Year 7, I am here to give you a few tips and tricks about moving to High School! It may seem very scary moving to High School but the truth is you are in the same boat as everyone else, they all feel the exact same, it is natural I did too! Moving to King Edward VI High School was like having a new beginning in your life! Here are a few questions I get asked: Will I get lost? Well to be honest it is normal to get lost, but after a week of settling in you know where everyone is and you no longer get lost. And if you do it's fine all you need to do is ask someone around you where the place you are trying to get to is. What if I’m late? When in Year 7 you will be late but that is because you are new to this so don’t worry you won’t get into trouble. I hope this has settled your nerves and answered your questions! And remember stay safe during these current times! |

My advice...
Make new friends, I know it can be difficult because you have moved up with your friends but I have made great new friends too and we all hang around together. If you like sport, get involved in the school teams, it is great fun and you meet new people. Keep up to date with your homework so you don't get in to trouble! |
