The first day
We know that your first day at high school in September can be both exciting and nerve-racking! That's why we have put together this website to help you get to know your new school well before arriving in September.
What happens on the first day? When you arrive into school (between 8.30am and 8.40am) you will need to go straight to the Main Hall where you will be greeted by Mr Lomas and your new form tutor. Also in the Hall will be your Hear4U peer mentors who will help you find the right seat and settle you in. There will then be a Welcome Assembly from Mr Lomas, Mr Christey (Headteacher) and your Head of Year. Once the assembly is finished you will be escorted to your new form rooms by your form tutor and usually spend the first part of your day with them. They will go through the basics with you and give you your personal timetables. You will be given a guided tour and we will help you set up your school lunches. Once you have done your induction activities with your form tutor, you will start going to lessons where you will then do some other transition activities to help you settle into school. What happens if I get lost or I am late?
Don't worry! You will soon find your way around the school. There are plenty of older pupils and teachers who can guide you to the right place. If you are late in your first week, your teachers will understand. What about lunches?
On the first day, and usually for the first week or two, you will go to lunch earlier than the rest of the school. This is so you can get used to how the lunch system works. You will also be escorted to the gate/bus park early at the end of the school day so you know where to go and can be the first ones out...once the bell has rung of course! |
2023 The term starts on Wednesday 6th September for all pupils. |
